Eid is considered a day of joy and happiness that prevails among young and old alike, because God Almighty loves to show His grace to the servant through new elegant clothing, and to eat the most delicious foods without extravagance, so God Almighty said in his noble book: “O Children of Adam! Dress properly whenever you are at worship. Eat and drink, but do not waste. Surely He does not like the wasteful?”. For God has permitted for people the desirable things from clothing and food. On that day, he stressed that we should not waste and extravagate, and this is so that a person does not forget the true meaning behind Eid, which is thanking God Almighty for the blessings that He bestowed upon us, in addition to his support for us in all areas of our life, and God has permitted Muslims only two days of Eid, which are The Blessed Eid al-Adha and the Happy Eid al-Fitr.
It is noteworthy that people had, before the advent of Islam, several customs and traditions that they were happy with, and when Islam came, it sanctioned them for the good ones, and forbade them other than that, and made the Eids controlled by the rules of the Sharia. It is not permissible for anyone to exceed it, and Muslims have two festivals, namely: Eid al-Fitr, which occurs on the first day of the month of Shawwal, and Eid al-Adha, which comes after the day of Arafah, and takes place on the tenth day of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah, and the Eid comes to bring Muslims together. And it makes them feel their belonging to the religion of Islam, so they rejoice in it with the will of God Almighty for them that the holy month of Ramadan has reached them, and they rejoice over the obedience they adhered in it, and the joy they found in it of the closeness to God Almighty. and in this article, we will learn about each Eid in detail and what to do before Eid to enjoy it to the max but first, we need to know extra reasons for the legislation of the two Eids.
The reason for the legality of the two Eids:
Allah has legislated the two Eids for the Islamic Ummah as a reward for their hard-working, Eid Al-Fitr comes after fasting a month every year so, it was from the mercy of Allah to gift Muslims this day to enjoy everything they boycott during Ramadan from eating, celebrating, wearing fancy clothes without exaggerating. And Eid Al-Adha comes after the day of Arafa, on this day Muslims stand at Arafat mountain to do the ritual of Hajj and they suffer a lot for the sake of Allah thus, Allah rewarded them with Eid Al-Adha to enjoy the fruit of their hard-working in Dunya and the big reward there in the hereafter. In these two days many benefits for Muslims:
1-It was necessary for Muslims to have a time for gathering so the whole world get to know Islam and how much happiness and pleasure this religion contains, the whole Muslims are entitled to go out at the Eid whether men, women, children or old people every Muslim should go out and find the other Muslims to strengthen the bond between them.
2-Eid is also a reminder for each Muslim to thank Allah for all the blessings that Allah has granted him.
3-Announcing the acts of Islam such as saying Allah Akbar out loud all day.
Things to do in the Eid.
First: Eid al-Fitr
The Prophet – may God bless him and grant him peace – prescribed many Sunnahs for Muslims that it is desirable to do on the day of Eid.
Eating on the day of Eid, and this Sunnah differs between Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. On Eid al-Fitr, the Sunnah is eating before going out to the Eid prayer.
Going to the Eid prayer hall one way and returning home from another to meet people as much as you can.
Slow down to leave after praying to the imam; This is to greet the people.
Only performing the Eid prayer and not performing any prayer before or after it; As the Eid has no Sunnah before or after.
Second Eid Al-Adha
Sacrifice; The slave’s proximity to his Lord at the Duha of the day of Eid, with a kind of cattle beast; Cows, sheep, goats, or camels to approach God-Almighty.
The Eid al-Adha prayer: The Eid prayer is considered one of the confirmed Sunnahs according to the Maliki and Shafi’is, while it is obligatory according to the Hanafis, and the Hanbalis,
Takbeer: it is Sunnah for a Muslim, according to the agreement of the four schools of thought.
And according to the traditions and customs, there are some arrangements that Muslims used to do before Eid.
The house for Eid must be well prepared, in terms of cleanliness and arrangement, usually, the guests begin to visit each other for the congratulations of the Eid after the Eid prayer, which ends early in the morning. The usual hospitality of Eid should be prepared, such as the Arabic coffee that Arab homes are famous for, nuts, and chocolate, and any kind of desired hospitality can be provided, and the house must be cleaned and prepared at least a week before the Eid Because it will require a lot of effort, and it cannot be prepared completely one day before Eid, because the day of Eid is full of activities and activities that need energy.
It is also nice to try to decorate the house to celebrate Eid, as this further entrenches the Islamic meanings of the importance of Eid in the hearts of children, and candles and incense burners can also be lit to spread the pleasant smell in the home.
The family’s new and clean clothes must be prepared. The Muslim should be in a high degree of cleanliness during Eid, and only the good smell comes out of him, and new clothes must be bought from the market days before the Eid so that all work does not accumulate on the night of Eid. Appointments are arranged to go out to do social duty with neighbours, relatives and friends, and children should be given time to visit entertainment spots.
