Knowledge seeker and the prophets?! The virtues of seeking knowledge of the Qur’an and religion are great to an extent you would never imagine. So, let’s talk about that in the few following lines:
1- It is enough to honour for the learners that Allah almighty has mentioned them in a very honourable situation when Allah said in the Holy Qur’an: {Allah ˹Himself˺ is a Witness that there is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Him—and so are the angels and people of knowledge} !! Imran/Family of Imran verse 18. ; Here, Allah mentioned angels and learners that they testified and witnessed that there is no god but Allah. What an honour! Allah doesn’t mention Muslims that they all witness he is their God and the one to be worshipped, He even Subhanu doesn’t mention prophets! He mentioned people of Knowledge! In this great situation, Allah mentioned those who seek knowledge like the ones who testify and witness that there is no god but Allah. And best knowledge as we know is religious knowledge as it prepares you for the hereafter.
2-Learners are the heirs of the prophets, as the prophet said: “Learners are the heirs of the Prophets who bequeath neither dinar nor dirham but only that of knowledge; and he who acquires it, has acquired an abundant portion.”
3. Religion Knowledge is a light that God will guide to it, the lucky ones in this world, and he said: “Can the one who knows that your Lord’s revelation to you ˹O Prophet˺ is the truth be like the one who is blind? None will be mindful ˹of this˺ except people of reason. “[Thunder: 19]. People in this world are many types; the learner of the Qur’an is the one with the light of knowledge that guides him in this hard life. Others who lack this light are like blind people who might feel lost in this Dunya.
4. Allah raised the learners’ position: Not because of their career position, nor family, nor money, but because of their knowledge, as it is mentioned in the Holy Qur’an: “Allah will elevate those of you who are faithful, and ˹raise˺ those gifted with knowledge in rank.” [The pleading woman: 11], And the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم (said: “Whoever takes a path upon which to obtain knowledge, Allah makes the path to Paradise easy for him.” And the path a learner could take here, to learn, can be the road he takes to go to school or academy, the journey to seek knowledge in other countries, or virtual paths like nowadays. So, if you subscribed to a YouTube channel to learn from it, it’s a path. If you followed a scholar’s account on the social media platform to read his posts and learn, this is also a path. If you joined an educational course or program via zoom or any virtual educational platform, it’s also an educational path. If you read a book, searched for fatwa, Prophet Sayings or verses interpretations, all these are kinds of educational paths that will make the path for paradise for you easy as Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم(told us.
5- The reward of knowledge is not interrupted even after the death of the learner If someone learnt one thing and then he transferred it to others and then died, the information he told others will be passed from one to another and so on until the day of resurrection. And he will be rewarded for everyone learning it because of him.
6- It is enough in the virtues of knowledge that it is a sign of the will of Allah to choose you for this great position: As Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم (said: “When Allah wishes good for anyone, He bestows upon him the Fiqh (comprehension) of the religion.” Agreed upon. And that’s why Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم (was asking Allah every morning beneficial knowledge when he says this daily morning Zekr: [O Allah, I ask You for knowledge that is of benefit, a good provision, and deeds that will be accepted.
