2-The story of Queen Balqis How did Prophet Solomon know her? Did she believe in Allah the One and Only? When Prophet Solomon – peace be upon him – was checking birds and animals, he did not find the Hoopoe, so he became very angry. Because he was absent without telling him or presenting justification for his absence.
Prophet Solomon swore that he would torment it if it did not bring him a convincing excuse of its absence. However, the hoopoe came and gave the Prophet Solomon an excuse of absence that caught his attention. The Hoopoe told him he saw one people worshipping the sun as a god, and because the Prophet Solomon – peace is upon him – used to hate polytheism, the hoopoe began to talk to him about Queen Balqis and her people, about whom the Almighty said in the Holy Qur’an: {It was not long before the bird came and said, “I have found out something you do not know. I have just come to you from Sheba with sure news.} An-Name/ The Ant verse 22 How did Balqis and her people embrace Islam? After the message of Solomon which was sent to her by the Hoopoe inviting her to worship Allah. Balqis wanted to test the sincerity of Solomon’s intentions. So, she sent him the luxurious gift to see his reaction. And when he refused the gift, she realized that he was a prophet and did not covet, so she announced her conversion to Islam with her people. She did not surrender for fear of war, but rather because of her convincement and faith in Allah the One and Only God, the Lord of all worlds. Why did Solomon hasten to bring Balqis’s throne? When Solomon – peace be upon him – knew about Balqis and that she’s coming to visit him in a peaceful visit after he refused her gift. He wanted her to know Allah and believe in him. He, peace be upon him, hastened to bring the throne of Balqis and put it in his place. That’s to show his power, his kingdom, and the many blessings that God gave him before her. Also, bringing the throne of Balqis so quickly is a miracle for the Prophet of God Solomon, and in that it clarified to her that whatever her strength and pride, Solomon has the greatest strength and pride ever. Who brought Balqis’ throne? When Prophet Solomon wanted to bring the throne, one of the jinn said, “I will bring it to you before you get up from your place.” Then another Jinn who knows the Scripture, said “I can bring it to before you close your eyelids, after one twinkle only of your eyes.” and that’s what happened. Balqis came and saw her throne and was astonished. Did Prophet Solomon marry and Balqis, the Queen of Sheba? There were many sayings in the marriage of Solomon and Balqis. AlDahhak said that Solomon married Balqis and allocated a place for her to live in the Levant, and Saad bin Abdul Aziz mentioned in his book AlNaqash that Solomon married her, but he returned her to her rule in Yemen, and he used to order the wind to take him to visit her every month, and he mentioned that they had a son called David, but he died in his time. However, Wahab bin Munabbih and Muhammad bin Ishaq said that the Prophet Solomon – peace is upon him – did not marry her and that he told her to choose a man from her people, and she chose the king of Hamadan. Then after marriage, Solomon brought them back to Yemen. In which verses the Queen of Sheba’s story was mentioned in the Holy Qur’an?
